Two Families Adopt Four Brothers So They Won’t Be Apart
The strong bond of four young brothers should never be broken, yet the adoption of just three to one family could have torn Michael (6), Jess (5), and Camden (4) and baby Elijah (17 months) apart. However, a loving next-door neighbor stepped in to adopt the fourth brother and now they live life to fullest together – just under different roofs.
Meet Julia Washington and her neighbor Jay Houston who are raising four brothers in two separate households. Their unconventional story began when Julia and her family decided to adopt Michael (6), Jess (5), and Camden (4). Then she and her family learned that there was a fourth brother.
Given that Jess has cerebral palsy and requires a lot of attention and Julia’s family was growing from two biological children to five with the adoption, they wouldn’t be able to adopt the fourth but didn’t want to separate the brothers. That’s when Julia’s dear friend and neighbor, Jay stepped in to make sure that connection would never be lost. She decided to adopt Elijah into her family as well. Now the four adorable young brothers will be able to grow up together.
This incredible story of love, kindness, and compassion has touched millions. “I have not given them a gift, they have given us a gift,” Jay said with tears in her eyes. “We are not the same people that we were before.”
